Yellow Journalism

The Term fake news is everywhere you look whether it is on social media/ the internet, magazines, or the newspapers. I would say that fake news catches your eyes by the writer by using bold print and triggering words like “INCOMING NEW TREND HELPS YOU LOSE WEIGHT” has you wonder what the article is about. From the article about yellow journalist who are people who also create fake news which is a way they make their money by how many people click on the article. I feel like Paris Wade and Ben Goldman only care about making money since they don’t want to create factual information for their audience to understand and read.

Some advertisements have some appeal to them depending on if the article is talking about a celebrity or health, Dealing with a political article would have the same effect on outcome of fake news to make someone believe that the information is true especially with a article is about the president from wanting to know about what is going on around the world.

This photo of Barack Obama being accused of wanting to destroy celebrities is an example of how fake news is portrayed which leads to someone actually believing the information they are reading. For me personally, i try not to feed into reading fake news because most of the time the article is stating something negative about the subject. I think people should start reading carefully and analyzing there articles to not believe everything they see.

  1. Before the advent of social media, fake news could be found in the grocery check-out aisles, and you show that clearly in the image you post from The National Enquirer. I wonder--what do you mean when you say that some advertisements have some appeal? Who is advertising on the Liberty News website, for example?

  2. I like how your incorporated the picture of a tabloid that engages in yellow journalism. Your blog post was very cohesive and clear. Readers have the responsibility to avoid and not engage these types of media sources.
